Oracle Database Administrator / Developer - ThomasCook

The following vacancies are announced in ThomasCook Overseas Ltd.:

Oracle Database Administrator

- Respond quickly and effectively to production & development issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.
- Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.
- Manage backup and recovery of databases.
- Design and implement highly available production systems (Oracle 9i Data Guard).
- Manage security of database structures and corporate data held within databases.
- Migration to the latest Oracle version when needed.
- Share knowledge by effectively documenting work.
- Develop database procedures, triggers and SQL scripts for development team.
- Maintain database changes from Development, QA to Production.
- Monitor databases for errors and perform problem determination when necessary.
- BSCS or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years, Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g, Oracle Standby databases, Oracle 9i Replication, PL/SQL and SQL.
- Experience running large production databases, with 100% uptime requirements.
- Experience configuring and maintaining Advanced Replication.
- Performing database upgrades. Including planning, scheduling and testing.
- Demonstrated familiarity with internet technologies - DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP.
- Detailed knowledge and insight into tuning Oracle databases and related applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Able to train and mentor other members of staff.
- Must be a self-starting and highly motivated individual, able to work quickly and change direction as priorities shift.
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on new responsibilities.

Oracle Database Developer:

- Analyze business requirements.
- Development of needed software applications.
- Adding enhancements and/or re-engineering of existing software applications.
- Testing his/her own work.
- Software maintenance and debugging.
- Capable of writing the following documents: User guide, Technical guide.
- Participate in implementation and support
- Database design using Oracle Designer.
- Developing applications using Developer 6i & Developer9i (Forms, Reports)
- Working with Oracle9i database.
- Working with Oracle Application Server
- Debugging skills.
- Query Tuning.
- Documentation skills.
- Team-work spirit
